Team GO Rocket Leader Guide: Defeating Arlo
Team GO Rocket Leader Guide: Defeating Arlo
First Pokemon - Scyther
- Tyranitar: Smack Down* + Crunch and Stone Edge
- Giratina-Altered: Shadow Claw + Ancient Power
- Moltres: Wing Attack + Sky Attack*
- Melmetal: Thunder Shock + Rock Slide
- Aggron: Smack Down + Stone Edge
- Zapdos: Thunder Shock* + Ancient Power and Thunderbolt
Second Pokemon
Gyarados
(Waterfall/Bite) + (Crunch/Hydro Pump/Outrage)
- Zapdos: Thunder Shock* + Thunderbolt and Ancient Power
- Giratina-Altered: Shadow Claw + Ancient Power
- Tyranitar: Smack Down* + Stone Edge and Crunch
- Magnezone: Spark + Wild Charge
- Melmetal: Thunder Shock + Thunderbolt and Rock Slide
- Raikou: Thunder Shock + Wild Charge
Little bit of variance here. Electric users will always be solid choices. Giratina-A is bad against Bite, and Tyranitar’s bad against Waterfall.
Crobat
(Air Slash/Bite) + (Shadow Ball/Air Cutter/Sludge Bomb)
- Tyranitar: Smack Down* + Stone Edge and Crunch
- Rhyperior: Smack Down + Stone Edge
- Melmetal: Thunder Shock + Rock Slide
- Metagross: Bullet Punch + Meteor Mash*
- Zapdos: Thunder Shock* + Ancient Power
- Magnezone: Spark + Wild Charge
Tyranitar is the safest choice, resisting both Air Slash and Bite, but any of these are good options to get you started!
Magnezone
(Spark/Charge Beam) + (Zap Cannon/Wild Charge/Flash Cannon)
- Rhyperior: Smack Down + Earthquake
- Garchomp: Mud Shot + Earthquake
- Giratina-Origin: Shadow Claw + Ominous Wind and/or Shadow Ball
- Machamp: Counter + Cross Chop* OR Dynamic Punch
Third Pokemon
Charizard
(Air Slash/Fire Spin) + (Dragon Claw/Fire Blast/Overheat)
- Tyranitar: Smack Down* + Stone Edge
- Rhyperior: Smack Down + Stone Edge
- Giratina-Altered: Shadow Claw + Ancient Power
- Aggron: Smack Down + Stone Edge
- Swampert: Mud Shot + Hydro Cannon*
- Heatran: Fire Spin + Stone Edge
It’s not exactly the tankiest of Pokémon, with pretty bad defensive typing. Hit it with Rock-type damage if you can. If not, Swampert does the job just fine if you have one kicking around. Tyranitar remains a fantastic pick, and if you still have that Rhyperior kicking around from slot 2, that’ll remain a great choice as long as it has Stone Edge. If you’ve already maxed an Omastar, you might as well use it here too. Set it up with a Rock-type charge move.
Dragonite
(Dragon Tail/Steel Wing) + (Hurricane/Outrage/Hyper Beam)
- Dialga: Dragon Breath + Iron Head and Draco Meteor
- Mamoswine: Powder Snow + Avalanche
- Tyranitar: Smack Down* + Stone Edge
- Rhyperior: Smack Down + Stone Edge
- Melmetal: Thunder Shock + Rock Slide
- Metagross: Bullet Punch + Meteor Mash*
- Heatran: Fire Spin + Stone Edge
Tyranitar and Rhyperior don’t exactly enjoy taking Steel Wing, but should be able to swing back pretty hard in response. Either way, Metagross is a strong choice.
Scizor
(Bullet Punch/Fury Cutter) + (X-Scissor/Iron Head/Night Slash)
- Heatran: Fire Spin + Stone Edge
- Charizard: Fire Spin + Blast Burn
- Blaziken: Fire Spin + Blaze Kick and Blast Burn
- Moltres: Fire Spin + Sky Attack
